To see if oil kills duckweed (water plant).

Does oil effect the growth of duckweed.

Specific Question:

trying to see what makes water plants so i put
moter oil into a cup.

I think that the duckweed will die from the oil.

The thing that makes duckweed grow is when a pond / lake is left alone or if it is very dirty at the bottom of it, like Rocks, Branches, Trees, Waste Like trash, cans, and a lot of times there is duckweed because there is warm water. The reason why it stays is because there is no moving water and no one is near it or in it.

Data Analysis:

The Duckweed in water made more and more Duckweed.

Conclusion:

When i was doing my experiment i realized that that every day the duckweed in the water doubled in size and in the cups it went down
so that why there was not that much duckweed at the end of the experiment.

Discussion

Benefit to Community and/or Science

My experiment could benefit the community because it shows how Duckweed multiplies very fast in spring water.With just one Duckweed in the cup to start I ended up with 39 after day 9 of my experiment.Scientist could use this for helping the growth population of this weed.

Abstract

At the start of my project I had I had 10 cups with 1 Duckweed in each individual cup.In 5 of the cups I had oil and water mixed and in the other 5 I had plan spring water.Every day I wrote down my data.
